Project Description

Miami International Airport; Miami, FL

Provision of on-going miscellaneous civil engineering services to meet the requirements of fast response and specialized engineering services for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. This service order required conducting a study of the 2000 vehicle 700-acre employee parking lot and drainage basin at Miami International Airport. The study analyzed the current drainage system and made recommendations for the improvement of the system to facilitate drainage of the parking lot, while meeting DERM and South Florida Water Management District design criteria. The project involved data gathering, analysis of existing conditions, determination of future land use impact, development and evaluation of alternatives such as storm water modeling for the 5, 10, 25- and 100-year storm flows, cost engineering and presentation of final recommendations. A second service order involved preparation of design and construction documents for the construction of interim drainage improvements to resolve severe flooding conditions in three of the sub-drainage basins. Further on-going construction administration services were provided.
